Circus Incursion

Posted by bgommers | Posted in Incursion | Posted on February 22, 2020

On Monday, the Junior students participated in a Circus Incursion.  The purpose of the incursion was to help build student’s strengths and talents in gross motor skills and resilience. Sophie from the Circus Crew led warm up activities and then demonstrated tricks working with Devil Sticks, Poi and Hoops.

Each student had the opportunity to rotate through all three activities. At the end of the session we shared our balancing skills with a partner.

What a great incursion. Thanks Mrs. Bearman for organising this activity.

Thanks Annie E. for organising the Anzac Day Assembly.

We made poppies to remember what the day stands for.

Thanks to Annie C. for organising the Anzac Day Incursion.  The children were enthralled with the puppets and the message that the play delivered.

The Fireman from Croydon came back as promised. The children were allowed to squirt water and find out exactly what is in all those compartments on the firetruck. A big thank you to all the fireman.IMG_0497

Fire Education

Posted by leahmorgan | Posted in Incursion | Posted on July 16, 2015

This week Fireman Daniel, Richard and Dean came to visit. They are from Croydon Fire Station. They taught us about safe and unsafe fires, how to check our smoke detectors, a safe meeting place at our home and how to contact them in an emergency. They taught us to crawl down low and go, go go in case a room was filled with smoke. Fireman Richard showed us what he would wear if he was fighting a fire. He sounded like Darth Vadar. Next week they are coming back to show us the Fire Engine and we get to squirt things.

Fire Fighters Visit – August

Posted by leahmorgan | Posted in Incursion | Posted on September 30, 2014

Over the last two weeks the firemen from Croydon Fire Station have visited the Preps. The Firemen have taught fire safety, the difference between ‘safe’ and ‘unsafe’ fires, how to phone 000 in an emergency and fire procedures – ‘STOP, DROP, COVER, ROLL’ and ‘STAY DOWN LOW AND GO, GO, GO.’ The students were shown the special clothes and equipment worn by the firemen.

In our second visit the Preps visited the fire truck parked on the basketball court. They were shown all the fire equipment and had particular fun squirting the fire hoses.

“I got dressed in the fireman pants and big boots. I loved wearing these clothes.” Harrison

“I loved squirting the water from the big hose.” Hannah

“I liked seeing the fire truck. We got to spray the big hose. We washed Mrs Vallence’s office windows. It was great fun.” Maeve
